Brandy Vandermark Murray is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Corporations in Buffalo, New York, where she leads one of the region’s most comprehensive behavioral health organizations. She was appointed to this role in July 2026 after serving as President of Horizon, where she provided strategic leadership and advanced the organization’s mission of delivering high-quality, accessible behavioral health care.
Prior to becoming President, Brandy served as Senior Vice President of Operations, providing executive oversight for all behavioral health programs and spearheading strategic initiatives that strengthened Horizon’s clinical excellence and operational performance. Throughout her tenure, she has played a critical role in expanding services, enhancing access to care, and driving innovation across the organization.
A Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor, Brandy brings more than twenty years of clinical experience to her leadership. She has been a driving force behind Horizon’s integrated care model and has led significant expansion of substance use services across Western New York. Her accomplishments include restructuring and expanding Erie County’s only community-based detoxification program and developing two innovative residential programs—one for young adults and one for women—that were among the first in New York State to operate under the 820 regulations, enabling more intensive clinical services within residential settings.
Brandy is deeply committed to ensuring high-quality, equitable behavioral health care and to fostering a mission-driven, supportive environment for the workforce. Her leadership has been recognized with the ASAP Eileen Pencer Women’s Leadership Award and the 2025 Business First Excellence in Healthcare Award. She has also championed women-specific programming at Horizon, including expanded training in perinatal mental health and strengthened partnerships with local medical providers to support early intervention.
In addition to her executive role, Brandy serves as an adjunct professor in the Graduate School of Mental Health Counseling at Canisius University, where she teaches courses on substance use and the impact of the opioid epidemic. An alumna of Canisius College, she holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a graduate degree in mental health counseling.
A respected voice in behavioral health policy and workforce development, Brandy frequently speaks at state and national forums. She serves as the Region 2 Board Member for the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, sits on the Executive Board of InUnity Alliance, and is a board member of the Therapeutic Community Association of New York State.
A committed community leader, Brandy is a graduate of Leadership Buffalo’s Class of 2022 and serves on several boards throughout Western New York including Aspire of WNY, Seneca Street CDC, The Service Collaborate and Coordinated Care Services Inc.
She lives in Snyder, New York, with her husband, their two children, and their dogs, Lilly and Winston.
