‘Tis the Season for Giving

baby sweater purpleAs we reflect upon our blessings at Horizon, we are continually grateful for the time and contributions made to Horizon by individuals and small businesses in our community. In the spirit of the holidays, today we’d like to share a story with you about one of those individuals who is making a difference in the lives of patients and families at Horizon.

Recently we received a call from a woman named Emily Eisenbaum who wanted to help Horizon patients and families dealing with substance use disorder. A cause near and dear to her heart, she wanted to do something to give back to families that were going through a hard time. An avid knitter, Emily began knitting baby sweaters and selling them to her friends and other members of the community. Generously, Emily wanted to donate all of the funds that she collected to Horizon!

Emily is no stranger to using her talent to help others. She recently said, “I have always been interested in knitting for causes — friends can only wear so many scarves!”. One project that she is most proud of was making “Warm Welcome” blankets for local babies born with Down Syndrome. The blankets were included in the informational packet that the families received at the hospital.

Since August, she has sold 12 sweaters with the proceeds going to Horizons, totaling $380. If you’d like a baby sweater, Emily is only making one size which fits 6 months – one-year olds. There are a variety of colors available and she will take special orders. Please contact Emily at EEisenbaum1@gmail.com for more information.

Thank you from all of us at Horizon!
