The New Face of Heroin Addiction

Last month, the nation was shocked and saddened when Cory Monteith of the hit series Glee, died of a toxic combination of heroin and alcohol in a Vancouver hotel room.

What’s surprising is that when people think of heroin, they immediately think of people using in abandoned buildings and back alley ways and not successful people with everything going for them.

The sad and scary truth is that more and more teens and young adults are turning to heroin after becoming addicted to prescription pain killers. Why? Heroin is easy to find and much cheaper. However, the consequences can be deadly.

This is a great video from WKBW Channel 7 which follows the story of one youth who has been coming to Horizon for treatment of heroin addiction. We hope the video will help open your eyes to the growing problem of heroin in our communities.
