Are you looking for continuing education courses this summer? Horizon Health is offering a new course entitled Professional Authority on August 2nd from 9 am – 1 pm. This course is designed to educate and empower individuals working with difficult populations. Participants will practice the art of assertiveness and building positive and effective relationships in the professional setting.
In this four hour course, participants will:
- Learn how to describe the differences between reacting and responding.
- Gain insight into ways they can enhance their own professional authority.
- Practice assertiveness skills for use in their professional setting.
Instructors:
Amanda Madding is a Program Director at Horizon’s Hertel Elmwood outpatient clinic, providing supervision to clinicians as well as counseling for individuals with substance use disorders. Amanda holds a LCSW, obtaining her Master’s in Social Work and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from University at Buffalo.
Katie Janik, LCSW-R is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults and adolescents living with mental health and/or substance use disorders. She has had over 11 years of experience in direct patient care, supervision of clinicians and in development and facilitation of clinical trainings on trauma, mental health and professional authority, among many others.
