On January 1, 2014, Horizon Village become the operator of Alcohol and Drug Dependency Services at the 291 Elm Street facility in Buffalo, NY.
Alcohol and Drug Dependency Services (ADDS) has been a provider of addiction treatment services in Erie County for many years. Sadly, ADDS was experiencing significant financial and clinical issues and ceased operations on December 31, 2013. Horizon was asked by New York State and Erie County to step in and take over services in order for operations to continue and remain uninterrupted.
The 291 Elm Street facility contains 28 detox beds and 31 inpatient rehabilitation beds.
“This is something that we wanted to do and felt strongly that we could do successfully.” said Anne Constantino, President and CEO of Horizon. “These services are vital resources in WNY and all of us at Horizon are committed to assuring that they remain available.”
Horizon will operate ADDS for a minimum three-month transition period and then evaluate where things stand. It is Horizon’s intention to assess the situation, hire and train staff and continue providing the necessary services as fast as effectively and efficiently as possible.
The Renaissance campus (Kids Escaping Drugs) was one of the programs run by ADDS. The Board of Kids Escaping Drugs has taken over those operating certificates and saved it from the demise of ADDS. ADDS also operates halfway houses. The State and County are talking with Cazenovia Manor to continue to operate those important recovery homes.
