Join us at the Nunikuhuni Invitational Charity Golf Tournament!

Join Horizon on September 11th, 2026, for the 1st ever Nunikuhuni Invitational Charity Golf Tournament at Shamrock Hills Golf Club!

Held in loving memory of Christopher Fiorentino, the Nunikuhuni Invitational is dedicated to raising awareness and support for substance use prevention, education, and recovery in our community. Proceeds from the event will benefit Horizon and the Alden Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition.

Continue reading to hear from Colleen Babcock, Horizon’s Parent & Family Support Coordinator, mother of Christopher, and the driving force behind the upcoming golf tournament.

How did the Nunikuhuni Invitational come to be?

The Nunikuhuni Invitational is a charity event that was created in memory of my son, Christopher. When Chris was little, I affectionately called him my “little Nunikuhuni.” Because the name holds such a special and personal meaning, it seemed like the perfect name for this important event.

Why is the Nunikuhuni Invitational important?

The Nunikuhuni Invitational will be held on September 11th, the anniversary of Christopher’s passing. Hosting such a meaningful charity event on this day gives me an opportunity to find purpose and joy on a day that is typically filled with sadness.

The work that Horizon Health Services and the Alden Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition do for our communities is incredibly meaningful and greatly needed. Having the opportunity to give back and support the important work of these organizations would mean the world to Christopher, and it means the world to me.

If you could tell a family with a loved one that might be struggling, what would you want them to know?

Get support and remember that you do not have to take this journey alone. Additionally, there are many resources available today to help families who have a loved one struggling with substance use disorder, mental health challenges, or addiction.

Connect with someone who is knowledgeable about these issues and understands what families experience. They can help you navigate available treatment and recovery services, better understand the disease of addiction, and provide the guidance and emotional support you need. Finding support and maintaining balance in your own life will also help you support your loved one throughout the recovery process.

Click here to register today! We hope to see you there!
