Grow with us Michelle

Meet Michelle! Michelle began her career at Horizon in 1988 – 35 years ago! The first five years of her Horizon career, Michelle worked as a Case Manager. From there, Michelle has worked for various programs across the organization, all shaping her experience as a valued member of our team.

Currently, Michelle serves as our Patient Engagement Team Manager. As the “front door” to Horizon, Michelle and her team strive to continuously grow and develop to better fit the needs of the community. Continue reading to learn more about Michelle’s growth through the years.

What kind of trainings have been supportive to your growth?

I have had many opportunities for growth and development. Our Horizon University program offers trainings, development courses, mentoring opportunities and more. With Horizon University, I have been able to partake in leadership trainings that have been extremely helpful in my current management role.

Can you speak to the mentorship relationships you have developed over the years and how these have helped you go grow as a leader?

I have had amazing supervisors in every position I have held. Each has seen potential in me when I did not see it myself and encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone. I have also had opportunities to observe other departments and positions, to help me learn and provide the best answers to those calling for services with Horizon.

Do you have any goals for further growth within your role at Horizon?

I am always looking for trainings and opportunities to continue growing as a leader. Participating in the leadership trainings that Horizon offers is always on my list.
I am also looking for trainings to better assist and greet each person calling.

What would you say to someone who may be interested in their career with Horizon?

I will pass along the words that were given to me by the supervisor who hired me, “You will never regret coming to work at Horizon, there are always opportunities for growth and development.” Horizon truly cares about their employees. There are so many benefits at Horizon, but what stands out the most is the culture and attitude. It’s this culture and attitude that helps us to be voted a Best Place to Work in Western New York for 16 years in a row!
