What is your “why” for working at Horizon?
Horizon’s mission to support the community by providing excellent substance use and mental health treatment, while also providing a great place to work and grow your career, is why I started here 8 years ago – and why I’m still here today!
What opportunities has Horizon provided that have helped you grow in your career?
At Horizon, you always have the opportunity to learn and take on new challenges. I started off working at the IT Help Desk, mostly troubleshooting hardware and computer issues. Once I discovered that I was interested in networking and cloud software, Horizon provided the resources for me to further my training and education on those topics. Horizon has a great Horizon University team that provides trainings for employees on a wide range of subjects.
How do you prioritize your well-being while also growing and developing in your career?
One of the benefits of working at Horizon is the flexibility in scheduling, along with the amount of PTO and holidays that are offered. Although being in the IT field may require you to work on a moment’s notice when something goes wrong, I never feel burnt out because there is plenty of PTO to take time off when you need it. Plus, the amount of PTO you get continues to grow the longer you stay with Horizon!
What would you say to someone who might be interested in growing their career with Horizon?
Horizon is a great place to work if you’re looking to further your career and development within your field. I started here just a few weeks after graduating college and never could have imagined the number of things that I would learn and the opportunities I would be given. Horizon has such a large presence in WNY, and as a leader in the healthcare sector, there is always room for you to grow in new ways here.
