The Chris Maloney Legacy Foundation was created in honor of Christopher T. Maloney, who lost his battle with addiction in June 2016. His mother started this foundation to raise awareness of the growing issues around addiction, increase education, and a way to honor her late son’s life. A passion of Chris’ was golf. He loved the traditions it entailed, individual commitment, honesty, and the social aspect of the game. It is only fitting that a golf tournament take place in his honor. Funds raised from the tournament will benefit multiple not-for-profits in the Western New York area, including Horizon!
Deb Armitage, Chris’ mother and President, said, “This golf tournament helps me celebrate my son in a way that focuses on his love for the sport! Holding the event at the Lockport Town and Country Club is special. He shot his first hole in one there as a freshman in high school. It was his goal to save enough money to get a junior membership at the club.”
The goal is to raise funds to support agencies across WNY that continue to break down stigmas and barriers of seeking help for mental health or substance use disorders. Horizon is honored to be a part of the Chris Maloney Legacy Foundation!
This year’s annual Chris Maloney Legacy Golf Tournament will take place Monday, July 26th. If you are interested in learning more or participating, more information can be found on their website.
