Our focus on health equity, inclusion, and representation drives us to address health disparities and create an inclusive culture that ensures access to necessary resources and support for all.
The Horizon Stronger Together Action Plan is central to advancing health equity within our company, community, and for our patients. The following commitments are the foundation upon which all Horizon initiatives are built.

We will foster an inclusive workplace through continuous learning, leadership and career development programs, and social impact initiatives to promote cultural awareness and reinforce our commitment to equity and a truly inclusive and accessible work environment.

Shacarah Henry, LMHC, graduated from the University at Buffalo with a bachelor’s in Psychology in 2013 and went on to complete her master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2016 at the University of San Diego. She spent five years working at various levels of care through community mental health organizations in San Diego before moving back to Buffalo. Upon her return in 2018, Shacarah joined Horizon Health Services as a Behavioral Health Clinician for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Mental Health (MH). In 2021, she advanced to the leadership role of Clinical Supervisor at one of Horizon’s largest outpatient clinics. Shacarah is passionate about working with diverse populations through a cultural humility lens and trauma-informed approach. She provides trainings and presentations, both internally to Horizon staff and externally to various community partners and organizations, on topics such as diversity and intersectionality, mindful wellness and stress management, and building belonging through inclusive conversations. She is an advocate for community involvement and social justice. In 2024, Shacarah transitioned into her current role as Director of Health Equity and Impact for Horizon Health Alliance. In this capacity, she oversees the organization’s health equity initiatives, community impact, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Council and programming for all Horizon affiliates.
