Meet Amy! Amy began her Horizon career as a Finance Assistant in 2014, but since then has grown into the role of Senior Cash Analyst on our Finance team. Over the past 11 years, she has had multiple opportunities to advance in her career. Continue reading to learn more about Amy’s growth with Horizon below.
What is your “why” for working at Horizon?
I initially applied because we were having a dip in our family finances, and I needed to find a second job. I was bartending at the time, and I knew someone who worked at Horizon. They got me my initial interview. However, as soon as I truly understood the work we do, and our mission, it became about more than money. The ethics that Horizon stands for are completely aligned with the way I want to behave in the world!
What opportunities has Horizon provided you that has helped you grow in your career?
I have been given many opportunities for training to grow my skills, as well as complete support from my supervisors whenever I wanted to try something new. My team members are always willing to jump in and share their skills and insights with me. The regular supervision and feedback I receive ensures I can keep track of my projects and never feel as though I am falling behind. I have been invited to join projects that utilize my skills and get to work with many other Horizon team members outside of my department. I have even been invited to be an Excel instructor through Horizon University, something I barely knew how to use when I was first hired!
How do you prioritize your well-being while also growing and developing in your career?
I feel blessed that Horizon has such great policies around work-life balance. I utilize my PTO regularly, take breaks throughout the day, connect with my team, and I rarely, if ever, have to think about my job when I’m at home. When I’m not at work, I can disconnect, recalibrate, and be ready to go in again the next day.
What would you say to someone who might be interested in growing their career with Horizon?
Don’t hesitate to apply! Horizon is a great place to work. The leadership team is invested in your connection and growth, as well as your personal well-being. The benefits are great, and leadership listens to and acts upon feedback. We all feel like we have a voice at Horizon. I’m so glad I took the leap and applied, and I have never looked back!
