Horizon’s Boulevard Addictions Outpatient Clinic specializes in adolescent and young adult addiction recovery, with an emphasis on treating both the youth and his or her family.  Marcia Valente has been an addictions counselor with Horizon for 14 years, and says she can’t imagine doing anything else.  She appreciates her ability to help adolescents and youths overcome addiction to alcohol and other drugs.  But, just as importantly, Marcia appreciates the opportunity to let these kids know they have options - that they are alive and can contribute to society.

“I love the challenges of my work,” says Marcia.  “Every case is different, every child and family unique.  It’s never boring.”

Marcia received her master’s degree in Clinical Audiology/Speech and Language Pathology from Case Western University, and her bachelor’s degree in Speech/Hearing from Hunter College, City University of NY.

Marcia says Horizon’s program is unique because it is a family-oriented program.  “Kids don’t live in a vacuum, they live with other people, so it’s important to engage the parents or other caregivers in the treatment process,” she says.
